We're Raising $40,000 In Honor Of Our 40th Anniversary

This year is our 40th Anniversary, and to celebrate, we are participating in Give Miami Day with a goal to raise $40,000.

On November 19, 2020, we will be kicking off one of the county’s biggest annual giving events. We have participated in this important event for the last 5 years. Last year, you helped us raise $24,000, and funds were spent on furthering our mission of neighborhood and individual transformation across all of our departments and programs.

In honor of our 40th anniversary, we’re looking for contributions in the amounts of $40, $400, and $4,000. In the past 40 years, because of gifts and generous donors like you, we have been able to accomplish the following and more:

  • Developed over 2500 units of affordable rental housing throughout the County, including Solabella, Villas del Lago, Magnolia North, Aswan, Town Center, and many others

  • Transformed vacant lots into public children’s playgrounds

  • Held 45 public arts events in 4 years at the ARC, including:

· Through the Eyes of Others, featuring Dread Scott, Bernard Williams, Hank Willis

Thomas and Ebony G. Patterson (2015)

· Atman the Caribbean Lion, featuring Derrick Grant (2017)

Here’s how you can get involved:

- Contribute from 11/16 to 11/19 by going to www.givemiamiday.org/OLCDC; you can

check our GMD profile now at the same page

- Spread the word! Tell all your friends about OLCDC’s GMD campaign this year and

encourage contributions

- Post about us on social media using the hashtag #GiveMiamiDay and #OLCDCGMD

- Ask your employer to make a matching gift

As our constituents confront a major pandemic, unemployment, economic crises, and the impact of systemic racism and inequality, we have made a commitment to ensure families in the community of Opa-locka have the necessary resources in order to be sustained during this time, and your donations will allow us to be able to see this mission through.

This year, donations are being accepted early, so you can start giving at 12:01 am on Monday, the 16th and the campaign continues through 11:59 pm on Thursday, November 19th. Gifts can be made by credit card, bank account, qualified gift card or Donor Advised Fund through the Miami Foundation.

Feel free to email Karla Gottlieb at karla@olcdc.org, or call the Miami Foundation’s Give Miami Day hotline at 305-371-2711 with any questions.
