About The Event
To commemorate our freedom, join us in the heart of Opa-locka. This free event will feature live entertainment, visual and performing art, interactive workshops, food and family-friendly fun. The festivities will take place inside the ARC and on the surrounding grounds, at 675 Ali Baba Avenue in Opa-locka.
Along with entertainment, the OLCDC event also includes civic activities designed to educate community members on the history of Juneteenth, financial empowerment and entrepreneurship. Come take part in a family reunion t-shirt contest, enjoy food, listen to some amazing spoke word artists, support local businesses, and take in the sights of the art exhibits that'll be revealed.
Don't miss our special guest...Dr. Joanne Hyppolite, a curator at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, will lead a historic remembrance of the Emancipation Proclamation. Plus celebrity chef and restauranteur Chef Creole will be there to chat with us about entrepreneurship and mindset.
Bring the whole family out for some black, cultural fun!
