Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program
In partnership with Trinity Church and Plan Be__, OLCDC is working to expand teen pregnancy prevention services throughout Miami-Dade County and effectively reduce teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease (STD) rates among youth ages 12 through 19, by implementing the Reducing the Risk curriculum (RTR) with high-school-aged students and the Making Proud Choices curriculum (MPC) with middle-school students.
RTR includes 16 45-minute lessons implemented in a classroom setting and aims to develop attitudes and skills that will help teens prevent pregnancy and the transmission of STDs, including HIV. MPC includes 8 modules in which participants meet once a week for 60-minutes. The curriculum is designed to empower adolescents to change their behavior in ways that will reduce their risk of becoming infected with HIV and other STDs and significantly decrease their chances of being involved in unintended pregnancies.
OLCDC is currently servicing Miami Central Senior High School and North Dade Middle School. To learn how this Program can be brought to your organization or school, please contact Vanessa Miot at (305) 687-3545 Ext. 234.
